June 22: Summer is here, but will the Sun ever appear?

Team captains should also start preparing their player selections for the all-star game.

May 28: Is the rain ever gonna stop?
Five weeks into the season, we've had 3 nights completely washed out,
another night partially washed out, and 4 games suspended. With this
number of early season makeups, it is important captains do their best
to not postpone games. All makeups will be scheduled by the league
around July 4th. We are still seeking prize donations for the league
picnic. Contact Erica @ Viamedia regarding donors or donations.
May 13: Games Resume After Week of Rainouts!
After a week of rainouts, games have resumed. Remember, the league will reschedule all makeup games some time around July 4th. Thanks to all captains for reporting scores promptly.
Also, the Calvary Temple field will no longer be used. Embassy Bank games will be played at Fountain Park field 2. A map and address for this new field is on the field maps page. The schedule has been updated to reflect the new field.

April 28: Opening Day Has Arrived! Good Luck to All Teams!
Nothing like a little pre-season upheaval to make you realize how grateful
we should be that most seasons go off without a hitch. Good luck to all
teams this season. Following are reminders of the major changes for 2009.
Games begin Tuesday April 28. Every team plays 22 games in 23 nights and
has one bye night. Playoffs are August 11 and 13 at 6:00 PM. The League
Schedule is posted.
REMEMBER- both captains must report final game scores AND the number of
(half) innings played asap following each game. See bylaws 7 and 37.
The League Picnic is August 8. We are seeking prize donations. Contact
Erica @ Viamedia regarding donors or donations.
Tournament is August 15 and 16. For the tournament, batters will now start
with a 1-1 count.
Rosters will be due sometime in July. Players must play in at least 7 games
to be eligible for any post-season play, including the tournament. Your
scorebook will be proof. See bylaw 20.
Bylaws with revisions for 2009 have been posted.
Sliding is now optional and never required. Dangerous behavior by a runner
(take out slides, collisions, not getting out of way when out) will cause
the team to get a warning. After the first warning, additional violations
by anyone on that team will be called an out and the play ruled dead. See
bylaw 29 for new wording.
Players throwing the bat will now receive a warning. After the first
warning, each time the same player throws the bat again, the player is out
and the play ruled dead. See bylaw 31 for new bylaw.
Fake bunts, which were prohibited, now carry a penalty. When this occurs,
the fielding team has the choice of keeping the result of the play or
calling the pitch a strike. If such a called strike is a third strike, it
is a strike out. See bylaw 59 for new wording.
The coed line has been moved to 150 feet. See bylaws 39, 61, and 62 for new
wording.
Illegal bats- ASA changed the way the create their Illegal Bats list for
2009. A legal bat must have either a 2000 or 2004 ASA certification mark
AND not be listed on the ASA Illegal Bats list. A link to the ASA Illegal
Bats list is available on the website links page. See bylaw 23 for new
wording.
The limit of two walks per inning now applies to the team, not the
individual pitcher. See bylaw 50 for new wording.
ASA changed their rules for 2009 that all adult coed leagues begin with 1-1
counts. Since we do not follow this rule, bylaw 56 has been created to say
our league starts with 0-0 count, except for tournament games.
We are an official ASA league, Class D. All teams are members of the ASA
and are eligible to play in ASA sanctioned tournaments, including the State
tournament.
ASA Rule Books and other ASA items will be provided to each team over the
next two weeks.
April 22: WE ARE LOOKING FOR A TEAM TO JOIN!
One of our teams has dropped out unexpectedly and we are now seeking a new team to join the league. Preference will be given to a team which has the use of a field on either Tuesday or Thursday nights. Please contact us at immediately. Our season is slated to begin Tuesday April 28, but we may be able to make some slight accomodations.
On a separate note, the schedule is posted, but given the situation with a team dropping out, the schedule is subject to change. However, the playoff dates, tournament dates, and all star game date are all confirmed and will not change. Bylaws for 2009 will be posted Monday 4/27.
